Bearden United Methodist's entertaining afternoon raises funds for mission

No auditions.
No formal rehearsals.
"They barely call us and say they want to be part of the show and we have no idea what they will be doing until the emcees make the introductions," said Karen Billingsley describing the spend talent show portion of the fourth annual Bearden United Methodist Church "Luncheon Of Love."
"The extravaganza is always a surprise, that's the fun of it. We limit stage time to around five minutes and at the end of each performance a basket is passed around and the audience votes, in the variety of a donation, for their favorite act. This year the proceeds will go toward our Costa Rican Mission trip," Billingsley said.
Luncheon/endowment show attendees entering BUMC Fellowship Hall for the Feb. 21 event were greeted by the aroma of garlic bread with the precognition of Italian cuisine to follow. Show time just 45 minutes away, site clues pointing to the distinctiveness and talent of a few of the performers began to take shape.
