Jonathan Krogh – TT's only builder of electric guitars
Jonathan Krogh’s Danish surname is different, so too is his career – building electric guitars and amplifiers out of a garage which he has converted into a workshop, at his Maraval residence.
Krogh may be 31 years old, but he still looks like the 16-year-old he was when he started playing the guitar.
“I love guitars and have been building them since I was 19,” he told Sunday Newsday. “I would quickly take apart the guitar and find out how to modify it, such as changing the sound, changing the way it felt when it was being played, or maybe how to make it stay in tune better. I am neither formally educated in music nor in building the instrument. I taught myself everything – the woodwork, painting, electronics, even the upholstery involved in building the amplifiers, made lots of mistakes but rescued them and persevered to the end.
