any tube amp will work well or even a solid state amp but thays not the important thing. DO NOT use your pc mic. the mic is the most important thing to amplify your harmonica. get a decent dynamic mic. check out musiciansfriend.com or a site like...

I play harmonica and i have my own microphone i like to use for tone & playability reasons. When i attempt to set it up, the host gets pissy and annoyed and generally makes everything difficult.
My question is: Am i being rude...
open mic hosts can be jerks, you are being totally cool, thats not on you at all. The host is at fault.
With Bullet mics, you do get that airtight seal if you cup with your hands which gives single notes a nice FAT sound. However, they disable a lot of my hand techniques, which is a big disadvantage. I like to play fast and loud (use a lot of...
the heavy mid-tone is suppose to cut through the mix better.
I'd like to stick a Green Bullet harmonica mic in the bell of my cornet. Have you ever experimented with doing something like this? What are some good ideas with mics and amplified trumpet? I'd like to...
I'll second that on top of it your going to get wind noise unless you stay pretty still and I'd think the weight of it would be distracting.
I'd suggest using a boom mic, locate it up above you or out in front so your movement...

Chypyhas to play Thursday night
Along with B.C.’s Art Pruce, local musicians Dawn Chypyha and her daughter Tonya will be playing at Spirit Square this Thursday for Music In The City.
The July 29 show starts at 6 p.m. at Spirit Square and, as always, is a free public show.
Dawn Chypyha spoke with the Herald earlier this week:
Q: You’re probably best known in town for playing at the SaySo nights at Iron Mountain Music recently. Do you play other gigs outside Merritt?
A: Yeah, Kamloops, Vancouver, Ashcroft, Logan Lake, Princeton a couple of weeks ago. Actually we play more out of town than we do in town.
Q: What will you be playing this week at Spirit Square?
A: We’ll play half an hour with our harmonica and keyboard player who are from Princeton.
Q: When you play out of town do you go by the name Dawn Chypyha?
A: Dawn Chypyha and the Cactus Cats Band is actually the name that we use. We use The Chypyha Chicks for Tonya and I.
We played at Cactus Annie’s for a four week gig and we ended up getting hired to play for 32 weeks in a row the year before last. It was really sweet.
