I need a good mic for performing live. I have a pretty deep voice but sometimes it doesn't cut through the rest of the band and gets lost.
A friend of mine told me that a harmonica mic would be good to remedy this, but I can't find any

Yes you can use one, and it will sound like crap. You need a vocal mic for vocals....

I haven't tried one other than the green bullet, but i'm sure that the micrphones from the 60s and earlier were way better. As far as what is being produced now, i feel the current green bullet is the best.

ok im a musician and iv been on both sides of the window in music and im afraid to play my harmonica into the microphone cause i dont know how! they hold a special way to play in a microphone and all how? and how do you record them with them sounding
Most harp players use a Shure "Green Bullet" mic. They hold it (usually) with the palms of both hands and the harp between their thumbs and forefingers. The mic either gets plugged into an amp which wil have a mic on it or straight...

The shure green bullet is by far the best for me. If you cup it real tight, you get a tone that is just unmistakable. If you go through a tube amp, then you've got a gorgeous vintage distortion tone...
