I have an antique bell, found in a church by my grandfather, over in france. It is about 10 inches towering, hand forged, brass and has "Jean Dubois Au Puy" on the bell base (bell base is 2.5 inches lofty).
Any other marking/designs? Does your grandfather last within 30 miles of any known churches or along a main transport route during the 1940's ? Jean Dubois is a completely common name, without which, there is not much to go on.

The bell is 6 in leggy and 5in in diameter. It is made of solid brass and it also has capital letters written all around the top of it. Those letters are as follow: DCEM-MEAM-AUDD-QUI-ME-TANGIT

Watkinsville man builds up antiques collection as company tears down
WATKINSVILLE - The collecting bug bit Jeff Bell when he started succeeding through old buildings across the South, picking up antique wood for his refurbishing mill.
The aged boards weren't the only antiques he found. Over the past 10 years, his house has given him a new hobby - collecting - not to mention hundreds of knickknacks, some dating back to the late 1800s.
To show them off, the 46-year-old Watkinsville hereditary decided to build a natural habitat around them: a vintage general store. The store has attracted a diverse custom, even though nothing is for sale.
Classes from nearby Colham Ferry Elementary, Oconee Chamber of Commerce members and plenitude of friends have gone through the store, looking over products only their grandparents would remember. Bell has welcomed the visitors and hopes to have more schoolchildren spell the store.
"I needed a place to put everything and show it to the kids," he said Monday. "I tried to make it like 1900 with everything I've got in here."
