I was just wondering what the approximate value would be of a 1935/36 Steinway concert grand piano is worth. I have searched on google and all I can find is info on restored pianos. The one in question that I'm curious about is all original,...
Asking the value of a piano is a very common question but unfortunately one that is nearly impossible sight unseen. Regardless of a person's impression that a piano is in "good condition" there are simply too may variables to consider. A...
This is a demo of my 1998 Steinway & Sons Model B Music Room Grand piano. This was, admittedly, a blatant sales pitch as the piano was posted ...
My piano is a model M steinway grand piano and we can't find the year it was made. We found a J 1862 four places on the piano but we don't think that could be the year it was made. Where do we find the year it was made?
Find the serial number. Once you have that you can go to the Steinway website and it will tell you exactly when it was made.
PS: Serial number is on a plate probably inside near the...

i want to buy myself a new baby grand piano. i found two piano's same price but i don't know which ones better to get. so what to get Yamaha or Boston?
Have you considered actually going down and extensively PLAYING each of these instruments? This is an awfully big purchase to not test drive the product. The brand doesn't really matter. Even 2 pianos by the same maker and the same model number...

Thank you for helping me to find someone interested in buying a piano.
Get it appraised to determine its value. Also ask Steinway & Sons what value they might put on it. If it was ever sold to (or used by) someone famous, that could increase its value.
As for selling it, you can advertise in the...
I'm aware the skys the limit but how much would the average Steinway cost? (Upright/Baby grand/Grand)

A 19th-Century Piano Is So Square, It's Cool
Mr. Lieberman, a professor of history at LaGuardia and director of the La Guardia and Wagner Archives , said it had an interesting history: It survived the Civil War in Kentucky, hidden in a barn where it was not burned as troops crisscrossed the area. The family legend was that someone played “Dixie” when Confederates were within earshot. It is not known whether the same pianist struck up “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” when Union soldiers were around.
It was appropriate for the subject under discussion, which was how business classes at LaGuardia had studied Steinway & Sons to compare modern-day business methods with those of the past. Though the company’s factory in Astoria, Queens, is less than four miles from LaGuardia, the students did not have to go beyond the college’s main building, on Thomson Avenue in Long Island City. Steinway donated its old files to the La Guardia and Wagner Archives beginning about 25 years ago.
Rosalie Barnett, a lecturer, said her students had created a database using employee Steinway records from 1900 to 1959, when information was entered by hand. Andrea Francis, an instructor, had her students take Steinway’s financial statements from 1908 and create an Excel spreadsheet. She said the challenge was figuring out how to classify financial information from the old balance sheets according to modern accounting principles.
